21-year old Izzy Bizu recently performed on BBC TV’s Later with Jools Holland, where her two songs Give Me Love and Mad Behaviour were rapturously-received, but this track really stands out for us and is already a favourite with several music blogs. On its first day up on Spotify, it was streamed 50,000 times. Izzy was born and raised in south London to a musical soundtrack of jazz and soul greats via the record collections of her Ethiopian mum and English father. Those vibes noticeably seep through into her work, particularly here on this fresh and joyful song, imbued with summer feel-good energy.
Chosen by the MOBO judges as One To Watch, and with solid support to date from MTV, 1Xtra, Annie Mac, Huw Stephens, Adele Roberts and Alice Levine on Radio 1 plus an 'In New Music We Trust' playlist, it all augers well for her debut album which is likely to arrive next May. Before that comes a sold-out headline London show at Hoxton Hall on November 25 and a full tour early in January taking in the Scala on January 27. All in all, Izzy is a captivating young British star in the making.
